Location: Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

Custom cabinetry and shelving is used to create a seamless look for a classic living room niche in Bloomfield Hills for a space that was once disjointed and irregular. Working within a variety of existing depths, and with a hallway closet located behind part of the wall unit, this space proved to be more challenging than at first glance. To begin, a false upper wall was built, in which to anchor high gloss lacquer floating shelves. Next, custom Ribbon Sapele cabinets open with touch latch hardware to reveal different depths, accommodating several storage solutions. Finally, a dropped soffit creates the niche to complete the overall look of seamless, floating luxury. The wall unit becomes the focal point for this contemporary and sleek living room.
