Pied-A-Terre Perfection

Our client was seeking a pied-à-terre in Birmingham, Michigan; a place to live and work during the week with her busy career in Detroit. Completed in April 2025, we focused on creating a fresh and modern update from top to bottom.

The renovation began with the installation of new wood floors, both herringbone and straight install, and two completely new staircases. With its lighter, fresher white oak floor as the foundation, new balustrades and railings were installed, new stair treads with white painted risers were chosen, and the look is both modern and clean.

The home now has new exterior doors with wifi compatibility and smart locks, new interior doors, hinges and hardware, a newly renovated fireplace and mantle, and in the kitchen, we removed the existing kitchen countertops, hardware, backsplash and hood. We installed all new kitchen plumbing, an Aga Induction rangetop, a new custom drywall hood, new quartzite with full heighbacksplash and more. In the powder room, removed the wood floor and added a mosaic tile, new vanity, lighting, plumbing and venting.

To further customize the space, we wired and installed all new recessed LED cans in the home, new locations for sconces along the staircases, decorative lighting in the home office as well as a new large modern fixture for the living room. The home office is highlighted with custom metal glass doors. While our home renovation did not result in any structural changes, the home now reflects the aesthetic, function and luxury of new construction homes!
