Living Room for a Gallery Room

With its unusual octagon shape, this sunken living room renovation was a design challenge to be conquered! Originally, heavy cherry cabinets lining the walls and an oversized fireplace mantle wrapped in green marble. The large dated sectional faced away from the entry points to the room, creating a closed off circulation pattern as well as an unwelcome back of the sofa view.

We re-oriented the living room to face the dual entry sides of the room, we removed the over sized built-ins, demoed the fireplace and renovated the wood flooring and fireplace surround. We added new recessed lighting and window treatments. The new custom limestone fireplace and oversized large pendant in the center of the living room create a light and bright pallet for which our homeowners can display their gorgeous custom artwork.

Handmade boucle swivel chairs are set opposite low leather slung loungers and the effect conveys comfort yet sophistication. The high-performance fabric on our custom sofa means afternoon naps and golden retrievers are more than welcome!
