When on a budget and trying to provide the ideal space for an active family, good design and quality never need to be compromised. The use of white shaker cabinetry and honed steel gray countertops create a simple and clean palette for this Bloomfield Village kitchen, completed in 2015. We utilized every opportunity available to create the look of a larger space- removing the soffits, opening a “window box” to the living room, allowing bar stools to extend the kitchen toward the front of the home, and updating the adjacent dining room to create a seamless flow. Finally, the base cabinet to the left of the cooktop is a false panel, leaving room for the basement staircase behind the kitchen, while still maintaining drawer storage and extra countertop surface for the home. This renovation became a kitchen that not only functions well, but is a perfect place to entertain for guests and family alike.
